Love Japanese & Korean bakeries? Then this one needs to go on your Melbourne must-visit list! Get in early. We arrived just before noon and a bunch of pastries were already sold out 😭 Thankfully, we snagged the ham & cheese croissant and it was incredible (sorry, no pic. The little human devoured it before I could!). ⠀ ☕ Drinks tip: Go for their specialty Japanese drinks (like hojicha or matcha) or ask for an extra shot if you're ordering coffee, it’s on the lighter side. I always grab a bag of hojicha mix to bring home too. FYI, there are no seating areas here. Some people just eat outside.

The Dubai choc cookie was REALLY good, highly recommend this amazing item. This has been THE must eat in Korea now so the offering here was a pleasant surprise. It is unfortunate though, that there’s only limited items available for 8am menu.

Shio pan and canale are perfect. Latte is good. I went there before shop opening time but still had so many queue before😅. The smell of freshly made pastry could be recognize by two block away and it’s amazing✨

Tucked away in Drewery Lane, People Lined Up that’s Them Bakemono Bakers is one of Melbourne’s hidden gems. This Japanese-inspired bakery serves some of the city’s finest pastries — flaky, buttery, and beautifully crafted. The Yuzu Almond Croissant and Blueberry Danish are absolute standouts, combining delicate flavour with perfect texture. The shop is small and mostly takeaway, but watching the bakers at work adds to its charm. Prices are a little high, and popular items sell out fast, so going early is a must. Overall, Bakemono Bakers delivers top-tier quality and creativity A must-visit for pastry lovers in Melbourne.

Long queue but moved fast. Staff was well organized. I had the ham & cheese croissant and was very nice. My only comment is I wish it was served warmer, but the croissant dough was crispy and perfect. Really recommend.

Bakemono – Japanese-Style Bakery in Melbourne A hidden gem serving artisan pastries with a Japanese minimalist vibe. Flaky croissants, rich canelés, and soft milk buns are displayed like art in wooden shelves. The space is calm, warm, and beautifully designed — a slice of Kyoto in the CBD. Perfect for pastry lovers searching for the best bakery in Melbourne. #genastar

By Sunday at 12:30 pm, many of the sweet pastries were already sold out. The coffee tasted excellent, and the almond–yuzu croissant is definitely worth recommending. There are no seating options inside and in front of the restaurant, so many people choose to sit on the sidewalk in the side streets. But it’s possible to enjoy your purchase nearby, for example in the Library State Park.

Down a quiet laneway with cyclist hazards is a small little bakery cafe. Here you will find an requisite array of beautiful and delightful baked treats. There is nothing quite like the smell of freshly baked croissants and other delicacies. You can watch staff working their magic whilst you wait in the queue. I would highly recommend dropping by to try their Yuzu Almond croissants. They are wonderful to consume with layer upon layer of crispy pastry, with hints of Yuzu with the crunchy almonds. The tree pastry in comparison was a bit disappointing given how good the croissants was. The sad blob of pistachio was barely recognisable in the centre. Maybe I just got a dud that day. Who knows. The Hojicha layer was a nice refreshing change from the Matcha craze. But a little sweet if anything. I'll still visit again next time I'm in Melbourne.
